Sree Kathiayani Bhagavathi Temple Activities

Sree Kathiayani Bhagavathi Temple, Sri Karthyayani Bhagavathi Temple Arangottukara
Powered by the Divine : A brief look back

In the 1970's, smooth functioning of the temple was hindered due to paucity of funds, reaching a point when the priest tendered his resignation, leaving the temple with nobody to perform the daily Poojas.

The sight of the temple without even a single lamp starkly contrasted with its fully illuminated spectacular appearance in its days of glory. This jolted the devotees and inspired them to do something to restore the great temple's glory.

Powered by the Divine blessings of Sree Kathiayani Bhagavathi, a temple welfare committee was formed, funds were collected and daily Poojas resumed.

Present Scenario and the Way Forward

Over the years, the temple welfare commitee has repaired derelict portions of the temple building. Only strong and durable wood such as Teak and Jack were used for the restoration work. A part of the funds collected are duly deposited in banks and the interest earned is used to fund the daily expenses and Poojas.

By the Grace of Sree Kathiayani Bhagavathi, though the present situation is relatively better compared to the 1970s, the temple is in need of more funds to truly restore its past glory and to draw more devotees to this Holy abode.

At present, we cannot claim that the temple employees are being paid a fair wage. The only employees being the temple priest and the warrier ( one who collects flowers for offering during Pooja ) who are doing their jobs more out of devotion than remuneration.

Some of the important projects to be undertaken are

  • Renovating the Temple Gopuram

  • Concreting of the "Pradakshina Vazhi" (Circumambulation path around the temple)

  • Expansion of "Bhagavatha Sapthaham" hall
